Isaac Agnew Mercedes-Benz
Leaders in Motor Retailing
The late Isaac Agnew founded the Group in 1931 in Belfast. Since his death in 1979, David Agnew, who joined the organisation in 1972, has managed the Group until 2011. Prior to 1969 the Group was mostly based on the Falls Road, but with the advent of the 'troubles' the business was partly displaced to other parts of the city of Belfast.
For many years the Group has been the major supplier of prestige franchises in Northern Ireland and it has grown from humble beginnings to annual sales levels approaching £200 million with a total staff of just under 600. It is one of Northern Ireland’s largest companies and most significant employers..
In December 2011 the Agnew Group became part of the Sytner Group of companies, the UK’s second largest motor retailer who are owned by the Penske Corporation, USA.
The Group believes that people make the difference and is committed to following best practice in recruitment and employment. We are an Equal Opportunities employer and our employment policies for recruitment, training, development and promotion are designed to ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on grounds of sex, marital status, disability, religious belief or political opinion.
